Brief:
App designed to allow women to host and be hosted when they travel.
The research process for this app was carried out with my teammate Chelsea Robinson, however the app was designed individually
Problem:
While doing research, my partner and I found that women who travel- especially those who travel solo- think about finding a safe place to stay that is away from touristy areas so they can have a more authentic local experience.
The Beginning
23
survey results from women around the world
5
women interviewed who travel frequently and have lived or are currently living as expats in a foreign country
2
weeks to research, quantify, and design this app
Interview Affinitization
We were finally able to pinpoint who our main user for the app would be and we all have outgoing, independent personalities. These women would be in their 20’s to early 30’s and are more likely to travel alone in the hopes of meeting new people and exploring their destination at their leisure.
Definition:
Through our research we learned that women take these things into consideration most when they are planning a trip:
Price
Safety
Things to do while there
Time of year
If they have been there or if a friend has suggested a place to them
Because of this we wanted to develop an app that would focus on the first 3 considerations for the initial iteration of the app. We felt focusing on the most important things was best since we had such a limited time and didn’t want to go into scope-creep.
The time came again for testing, so I put forward a plan and tested 5 more women.
Key Insights to follow…
Considering my new user flow, I was able to make a High-Fidelity prototype where I re-fined the profile page and chat function.
